Garmin has released a new stable software update for its Bounce 2 smartwatch, adding performance improvements and addressing multiple issues found in the launch version. The update, labeled Software Version 4.28, replaces Version 4.19 and is now rolling out globally as a free download through the Garmin Jr. app.
The company said the new update introduces nine key changes, including five bug fixes. These address stability problems such as system crashes triggered by deleting swim activities or selecting certain fields on the lap alert page. Garmin noted that “Software Version 4.28 reduces screen brightness during sleep mode and improves LTE calling responsiveness.”
In addition, the update enhances LTE connectivity and interface behavior, including improved responsiveness of LTE signal bars and smoother transitions when switching to in-call pages. The power-off page is now accessible in school mode, giving users more control without leaving restricted settings.
Garmin also resolved issues affecting analog watch faces and adjusted the frequency of weather data requests to improve efficiency. Together, these refinements aim to make the smartwatch more stable and user-friendly for daily use.
Launched globally about a month ago at $299.99, the Garmin Bounce 2 is a smartwatch designed primarily for younger users, featuring LTE-based calling and messaging. The company confirmed that future firmware updates will continue to be delivered through the Garmin Jr. app.
