Google has rolled out a new set of upgrades to Gemini Live, aiming to make spoken interactions with the model sound more natural and intuitive. The company highlighted that conversations rely on elements such as tone, rhythm and pacing, noting in its announcement that discussions are shaped by “more than just words,” underscoring the motivation behind the update.

The enhanced model introduces adjustable speech controls that give users more influence over how Gemini responds. This includes the ability to speed up or slow down explanations, a feature aimed at students or users dealing with complex material. Google frames the capability as expanding accessibility by allowing people to tailor the system’s delivery to their preferred learning style.

Language learning also receives renewed focus. The update allows users to practice targeted drills in various languages, from structured numerical exercises to casual conversational prompts. The goal is to give learners a low-pressure environment where they can gain confidence before applying their skills in real interactions.

Another component of the rollout emphasizes preparation for important moments, such as job interviews or difficult conversations. Gemini can simulate these scenarios based on user input, creating a controlled setting for practicing communication techniques and improving clarity under pressure.

Google has further strengthened storytelling features by enabling the model to deliver more expressive narratives, including character-focused perspectives. Users can also request playful accents, adding a layer of personalization to routine tasks such as recipe guidance or themed brainstorming sessions.

The updates are available immediately for Android and iOS users, extending Gemini Live’s capabilities as the company continues to refine voice-based AI interactions and broaden the tool’s everyday usefulness.
