GoPro on Thursday announced the Fluid Pro AI, a 3-axis motorized gimbal for cameras and smartphones, marking its return to the stabilizer market nine years after the Karma Grip. The new device will launch on October 21 alongside the company’s Lit Hero and Max 2 action cameras.

The Fluid Pro AI introduces AI-powered subject tracking, which GoPro said can “lock onto a person’s face or body and automatically keep them in frame as they move around.” The feature targets solo creators and aims to set the gimbal apart from rivals such as DJI’s Osmo Mobile 7P, Insta360’s Flow Pro, and Hohem’s iSteady V3 Ultra.

The stabilizer also integrates a fill light, a built-in display for camera controls, and interchangeable mounts compatible with GoPro action cameras, compact point-and-shoots, and most flagship smartphones. With a payload capacity of 400 grams, it supports devices including the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Battery performance is another highlight. GoPro said the Fluid Pro AI delivers up to 18 hours of runtime, longer than comparable models, and can double as a power bank. However, its $229.99 price point is higher than competitors, which range from $129 to $169.

The launch signals GoPro’s renewed push into accessories as competition in the action camera and content creation space intensifies. By adding smartphone support and AI-driven tools, the company is broadening its appeal to a wider base of creators beyond its core camera users.
