GPD’s upcoming Win 5 handheld gaming console has shown encouraging results in early benchmark tests, with the cheaper Ryzen AI Max 385 configuration offering competitive performance ahead of its November 2025 shipment to Indiegogo backers.
The Win 5 is available with two AMD Strix Halo processor options, and the Ryzen AI Max 385 version, featuring the Radeon 8050S iGPU with 32 compute units, is the more affordable of the two. Early tests suggest it can handle demanding modern titles at respectable frame rates.
According to a video review published by technology YouTuber ETA Prime, the Win 5 with Ryzen AI Max 385 achieved 60 frames per second in Street Fighter 6 at 1080p resolution and medium settings, with the thermal design power (TDP) capped at 18 watts. At a higher TDP of 28 watts, Spider-Man 2 averaged 74 frames per second and reached up to 130 FPS using frame generation.
Other games tested included Forza Horizon 5, Cyberpunk 2077, and Red Dead Redemption 2, with the device maintaining smooth performance across different power levels. For instance, Cyberpunk 2077 averaged 91 FPS at 45 watts and 60 FPS at 25 watts, while Forza Horizon 5 surpassed 100 FPS at medium settings.
ETA Prime noted that “the GPD Win 5 with Ryzen AI Max 385 performs remarkably well for its price point,” emphasizing its balance between power efficiency and performance. The tests suggest that even the lower-tier configuration may deliver a satisfying gaming experience when the device begins shipping later this year.
