HMD Global, the company best known for producing Nokia-branded smartphones, is moving into the smartwatch market with the launch of its first two models, the HMD Watch X1 and Watch P1. The devices are positioned to compete in the budget segment, targeting users seeking long battery life and broad fitness tracking features at lower price points.
The HMD Watch X1 is the higher-end of the two models, featuring a round 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and peak brightness of 600 nits. The smartwatch is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance, and HMD Global says the battery can last up to five days under typical use.

The more affordable HMD Watch P1 uses a rectangular 1.83-inch LCD with a lower resolution of 284 x 240 pixels and brightness of 550 nits. It carries an IP67 rating, making it unsuitable for swimming, and offers a slightly shorter battery life of up to four days. Aside from display and durability differences, the two watches share largely similar functionality.
Both models include heart rate and blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring, sleep tracking and more than 700 activity modes. Additional features include hydration and movement reminders, as well as group challenges through a companion smartphone app. As noted in the article, the watches aim to “impress with relatively long battery life, high-quality displays and over 700 activity modes.”
