MediaTek has just announced a series of new chipsets that serve different purposes in the market. One of them is the new Pentonic 1000 chipset, which brings support for Ultra High Definition resolutions and high refresh rates to TVs.
For your information, MediaTek is one of the largest processor manufacturers for TVs and every smart TV carries a powerful chip that allows it to offer more functionality than regular TV models.
Now, the company has launched the new Pentonic 1000 chip and it is the latest flagship TV SoC which will offer high-end features. Reporting from Gizmochina (11/12), the feature in question is support for 4K resolution at a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
In addition, the processor will also offer Wi-Fi 6/6E, and MEMC technology for smoother video movement. Don’t miss Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail, and 8 Intelligent View screens that allow users to watch or see several streaming services at once.
The MediaTek Pentonic 1000 chipset will offer a “multicore CPU” along with a dual core GPU, APU as well as a video decoding engine. TVs equipped with this chipset will also be able to support VRR up to 4K 144 Hz for playing games. Despite this, output is 4K 120 Hz.
This latest processor also offers the Auto Low Latency Mode or ALLM feature, which will also improve the gaming experience. Specifically, playback options on the new chipset include AV1, HEVC, VP9, and even VVC or H.266.
