MSI has expanded its QD-OLED gaming monitor lineup in the United States with the release of the MAG 272UP X24, a more affordable alternative to the higher-end MPG 272URX. The new model delivers a 4K resolution and 240 Hz refresh rate for under $800, positioning it as a competitive option in the premium gaming display segment.
The MAG 272UP X24 first launched in China earlier this year and features Samsung’s fourth-generation QD-OLED panel. MSI said the monitor supports a variable refresh rate range of 48 to 240 Hz via VESA Adaptive-Sync, with a gray-to-gray response time of 0.03 milliseconds. It also achieves 250 nits in SDR, 450 nits HDR (10% APL), and up to 1,000 nits in small HDR highlights. “The MAG 272UP X24 delivers flagship visual performance at a more accessible price,” MSI stated.
While it shares the same panel as the MPG 272URX, the new model makes several compromises to reduce costs. The DisplayPort standard drops from version 2.1 to 1.4, and the USB Type-C port supports only 15 W power delivery compared to the 98 W output of its higher-priced sibling. Additionally, the MAG 272UP X24 omits USB Type-A and Type-B ports, limiting its connectivity options.
These changes result in a notable price difference. MSI’s MPG 272URX retails for $1,099.99, though it is frequently discounted to $999.99. The MAG 272UP X24, by comparison, launches at $799.99. Despite the reduced feature set, both monitors deliver comparable image quality thanks to their identical QD-OLED panels.
The MAG 272UP X24 is now available for purchase directly from MSI and through Amazon U.S., further expanding the company’s QD-OLED lineup for gamers seeking high-end visuals at a lower cost.
