Pavonis Interactive and publisher Hooded Horse have released version 1.0 of Terra Invicta, formally ending the game’s early access period on January 5, 2026. The grand strategy title, which blends geopolitical management with hard science-fiction simulation, is now available on Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store, including PC Game Pass.

The full release introduces two new scenarios aimed at broadening entry points for players. A 2026 scenario updates the global political map from the game’s original 2022 setting, while a 2070 scenario offers a mid-game start focused on space colonisation and established alien activity, bypassing the early Earth-based phase. The developers said the update is intended to modernise the game’s timeline and offer alternative ways to experience its complex systems.

Version 1.0 also expands the Earth map with more than 50 additional regions and introduces new mechanics for regional annexation and federations. Combat has been refined with the addition of a “Realistic” mode that enforces stricter physics and resource constraints, while the existing combat rules remain available under a “Cinematic” option. According to the developers, the aim is to give players greater control over how closely battles adhere to real-world constraints.

Performance improvements were a key focus of the update, addressing long-standing complaints about late-game slowdown. Optimisations to artificial intelligence routines and turn processing are designed to reduce lag in campaigns with large numbers of assets. The game has also received Steam Deck verification, with interface and control adjustments for handheld play.

Terra Invicta centres on seven asymmetric factions with distinct goals, ranging from defending Earth to collaborating with or fleeing from alien forces. Reflecting on the scope of the project, the developers previously described it as “a deep, hard-sci-fi simulation at heart,” underscoring its complexity despite the broader accessibility changes. As of launch, the game holds an 82% positive lifetime rating on Steam, with more recent reviews trending higher following the 1.0 release.
