Peugeot has officially launched the production version of the E-208 GTi, reintroducing its legendary GTi badge in an all-electric format as the company expands its performance EV lineup.

The compact electric hot hatch arrives a year after the concept model made its debut and brings together Peugeot Sport engineering expertise with the brand’s latest battery-electric technology.

    Performance-Focused Electric Hatchback

The E-208 GTi is powered by Stellantis’ M4+ electric motor, producing 207 kW (280 hp) and 345 Nm of torque.

According to Peugeot, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, improving on the performance figures initially announced when the concept was unveiled.

The electric hatchback can also sprint from 80 km/h to 120 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h.

The performance figures position the E-208 GTi among the fastest electric vehicles in the B-segment.

    Developed with Peugeot Sport Expertise

Peugeot Sport engineers played a central role in developing the vehicle’s powertrain calibration and electronic motor controls.

The company said knowledge gained through its motorsport programmes, including the Peugeot 9X8 endurance racing project, was incorporated into the development process.

Christophe Auriault, Project Leader for the Peugeot E-208 GTi at Peugeot Sport, highlighted the importance of transferring racing expertise to road-going vehicles.

“This work on electronic motor control is at the very heart of our expertise.”

“It draws directly on the know-how gained in motorsport and transfers it from the circuit to the road.”

    Battery Retained, Cooling System Enhanced

Unlike some performance EVs that rely on larger battery packs, the E-208 GTi retains the standard E-208 battery.

The model uses a 54 kWh battery pack with 51 kWh of usable capacity, but Peugeot has revised the battery management system and cooling strategy to support sustained high-performance driving.

The company focused on improving thermal management to ensure the battery can consistently deliver maximum output during demanding driving conditions.

Peugeot estimates a WLTP driving range of up to 374 kilometres.

    Familiar Foundations Within Stellantis

The E-208 GTi shares much of its underlying technology with the Opel Corsa GSE, another high-performance electric hatchback recently introduced by Stellantis.

Both vehicles are based on the e-CMP platform and use the same battery pack and M4+ electric motor, although each brand has developed its own driving character and design identity.

The shared architecture allows Stellantis to accelerate the rollout of performance-oriented electric vehicles across multiple brands while controlling development costs.

    Pricing and Market Position

Orders for the E-208 GTi are now open, with pricing starting at €42,900 in France and £34,995 in the United Kingdom.

The launch marks a significant moment for Peugeot as it transforms one of its most iconic performance badges for the electric era.

By combining zero-emission mobility with traditional hot hatch performance, the E-208 GTi is aimed at drivers seeking a compact, practical electric vehicle without sacrificing driving excitement.
