Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will now launch on November 19, 2026, marking a six-month delay from its previous schedule. The studio said the postponement is intended to allow more time for polish and thanked fans for their continued patience.

The confirmation came through a post on X (formerly Twitter) and Rockstar’s official website, following widespread speculation triggered by protests from recently dismissed staff. The company stated that additional development time would help ensure the game meets its quality standards. “We’re grateful for the incredible support and patience from our community as we work to deliver the best possible experience,” the statement read.
Earlier in the week, former Rockstar employees staged demonstrations outside the company’s UK offices, accusing management of unfair dismissals and raising concerns over production issues. Reports suggested that around 40 staff were terminated in late October. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, responded by saying the dismissals were due to “distributing and discussing confidential information in a public forum,” denying any link to union activity.
Before the update, GTA 6 had been expected to release in May 2026, according to prior promotional materials and media coverage. The new November launch date effectively pushes the project by about half a year, making it one of the most significant scheduling changes in the title’s development history.
