Spotify launches “Car Thing”, dedicated audio streaming device in cars

Who likes playing in the ? Yes, player technology is constantly changing, maybe we used to play cassettes in the car, then switch to CDs, and then switch again to Bluetooth, where we play music using smartphones which are then connected to car speakers using bluetooth.

Now we enter the era. And recently released an audio device called Car Thing. Yes, this is a Spotify streaming device specifically installed on the car dashboard.

The goal is to make it easier for users to navigate their Spotify audio player while driving. Because this device is equipped with physical buttons and knobs and is easy to use.

Users of course have to subscribe to Spotify to be able to listen to audio on this device. Previously, users had to pair their Spotify account from a smartphone to this Car Thing device.

Car Thing from Spotify is equipped with a 4-inch touch screen to display the audio content you want to play. The body uses a rubber-coated material, and has mountings to be mounted on the user’s car dashboard.

For power, this device is connected using USB Type C. And the sales package also includes an adapter from the car cigarette lighter to USB type C.

For the price, the Car Thing sells for USD 90. However, this device is currently only available in the US.
