During the 2024 Annual Stockholders’ Meeting, Elon Musk announced that Tesla is nearing the conclusion of production for the Cybertruck Foundation Series, with plans to commence production of non-Foundation Series models in the third quarter.
“We’ll end the Foundation Series actually pretty soon and the non-Foundation Series sometime next quarter,” Musk stated in response to shareholder inquiries.
However, recent communications from Tesla to Cybertruck reservation holders indicate a continuation of the Foundation Series for a longer period than initially suggested. According to screenshots shared by EV enthusiast S.E. Robinson Jr. on social media platform X, Tesla now anticipates delivering only Foundation Series Cybertrucks through “late 2024.”
So, I just checked my email and I can order my Cybertruck. Got a problem though. I preordered mine about a little less than a year ago. I was under the impression it would be a minimum of two years after production started that I would be eligible to order.

The message sent by Tesla to reservation holders emphasizes the exclusive features of the Foundation Series, including limited-edition laser-etched badging, premium accessories, $2,500 in Powershare hardware shop credits, and Full Driving Capability.
Tesla has quietly changed the verbiage in the Foundation Series Cybertruck order invites.
They’ve added:

Critics and enthusiasts alike speculate on Tesla’s strategy amidst these developments, highlighting potential discrepancies between Musk’s statements and Tesla’s operational plans. The extended availability of the Foundation Series, priced at a $20,000 premium over standard models, underscores ongoing robust demand for Tesla’s distinctive all-electric pickup truck.
The continuation of the Foundation Series production suggests Tesla’s strategic adaptation to market dynamics and consumer preferences, ensuring sustained interest in its high-end Cybertruck offerings.
