Tesla’s Model Y has reclaimed the top position in Sweden’s electric vehicle market after a sharp rise in September sales, marking a turnaround for the company following several months of decline.
Data from Car.info showed that registrations of the Model Y increased by 492% compared with August, nearly five times higher than the previous month. Despite the strong recovery, year-on-year numbers remain lower, suggesting Tesla has yet to regain its earlier pace.
The Model Y had slipped to fourth place in Sweden’s EV rankings earlier this year, even as the company introduced incentives such as zero-interest financing. September’s rebound represents the first significant sign of renewed momentum for Tesla’s best-selling vehicle.
Stronger performance is also being seen across Europe. At its Berlin Gigafactory, Tesla has revised production plans upward for the third and fourth quarters of 2025 in response to improved sales.
The recovery extends to Sweden’s used EV market. Carla, the country’s second-largest dealer of pre-owned electric cars, reported that Tesla resale values rose by nearly 10% between June and August, helping the firm return to profitability after earlier struggles.
