Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation, accusing the gaming platform of neglecting state and federal online safety laws and failing to protect children from harmful content and predatory behavior. The action follows similar lawsuits filed by the attorneys general of Louisiana, Florida, and Kentucky earlier this year.
The complaint asserts that Roblox promotes itself as a safe and family-friendly platform but allegedly allows sexually explicit material and predatory interactions to occur within its ecosystem. The filing reportedly includes examples of inappropriate games, avatars displaying hate symbols, and simulated sexual activity.

Paxton’s office argued that the platform’s virtual currency, Robux, has been used by online predators as a means of exploiting children. The lawsuit claims that such incidents reflect broader lapses in Roblox’s safety measures and moderation systems.
Roblox has denied the allegations, describing the claims as exaggerated and inaccurate. The company stated that it maintains strict safety protocols, employs moderation tools, and regularly removes accounts that violate its terms of service.

The Texas case marks the third state-level lawsuit against Roblox in 2025, further intensifying scrutiny of online gaming platforms’ responsibility to safeguard young users. The outcome could have significant implications for industry-wide standards governing child safety in virtual environments.
