Ubisoft has acquired March of Giants, a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena game previously developed at Amazon’s Montreal Games studio, bringing the development team in-house as it works on the title’s next major update.

The game places players in control of giant combatants battling across a devastated urban setting inspired by early 20th-century technology. Designed as a 4v4 tactical MOBA, March of Giants blends lane-based combat with real-time strategy elements, allowing players to command units and deploy structures such as tanks, trenches, turrets and bunkers to defeat opposing teams.

The development team joining Ubisoft is led by industry veterans with prior ties to the publisher. Senior production lead Alexandre Parizeau previously served as managing director of Ubisoft Toronto, while creative director Xavier Marquis was the original creative director behind Rainbow Six Siege, one of Ubisoft’s flagship franchises.

Marquis said the move marks a return to familiar ground for the leadership team. “Returning to Ubisoft brings things full circle,” he said, adding that the studio sees significant potential in the project and believes Ubisoft can help expand its scope.

Parizeau also acknowledged Amazon’s role in the game’s early development, noting that the closed alpha demonstrated the concept’s promise. He said joining Ubisoft aligns the team around a shared long-term vision to grow March of Giants into a lasting entry in the competitive MOBA genre.
