Microsoft seems to have big plans after the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. This is natural, considering that the game company has a lot of IP and game developer studios with a large user base.
However, there is one thing that Microsoft is currently targeting in this acquisition. This was revealed by Xbox boss, Phil Spencer. In a recent interview, he said he wanted to see the popular legacy IP from Activision Blizzard to shine again.
“I’m really thinking about adding resources and upgrading abilities. I then saw the list of IPs (Activision Blizzard), I was immediately excited! King’s Quest, Guitar Hero, and others,” said Spencer as quoted from the Wccftech page (21/1).
This decision also makes sense considering that Spencer wants to bring as many game titles as possible to their game streaming service. So, with the addition of human resources to companies that are members of Activision Blizzard, there will be more IPs, both old and new that will come from these companies.
As is known, currently Activision Blizzard is focusing on only a few popular IPs, especially the Call of Duty franchise. They concentrate their internal resources on that one franchise.
This of course frustrates other game development studios under the company. In fact, they have games that are no less cool and popular than the CoD franchise.
