A leak reveals that the Xiaomi 12 Pro will feature a AMOLED 2K screen with 120Hz intelligent dynamic refresh rate. This leak was shown through a new video uploaded by Wei Siqi, product manager of the Xiaomi 12 series. Reporting from Gizmochina (24/12), the video is not an ordinary video, because it shows off the front of a smartphone for the first time.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro appears to have very thin bezels surrounding the screen that appear to be the same width on each side. Although the video doesn’t show the selfie camera, the previously officially released photo shows the Xiaomi 12 Pro with a small hole aligned in the center of the top of the screen.
The main highlight of the smartphone is its second-generation low-power 2K display, which can adjust the refresh rate with tactile feedback, operation, and even content. Xiaomi claims this is better than the ‘traditional’ LTPO technology that Apple developed in the iPhone 13 Pro.
The video shows the Xiaomi 12 Pro screen running at a refresh rate of 120Hz, when the Weibo app is launched. But when left idle, the refresh rate immediately drops to only 10Hz. This is beneficial for saving a lot of power, when compared to other Android smartphones which only drop between 90Hz – 60Hz.

Meanwhile, when the smartphone detects video content on the screen, the refresh rate is adjusted to 60Hz, so the video can play smoothly. All of this appears to be handled seamlessly and instantaneously, and users may not even notice that the refresh rate is being adjusted constantly.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro is expected to launch on December 28, alongside other models and running MIUI 13.
