Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, known for its innovative Mix series of premium smartphones, might not introduce a Mix 5 model this year, according to information from a reliable leaker, Digital Chat Station. This potential absence marks the third consecutive year without a new addition to the Mix lineup, with the last installment, the Mix 4, unveiled in August 2021.
Originally rumored for a 2022 launch, the Mix 5 was reportedly scrapped in favor of the Xiaomi 12s Ultra, casting doubt on the future of the Mix series.
Digital Chat Station hints that the Mix 4 could possibly be the concluding device in the lineup.
Adding to the uncertainty, the leaker suggests that while a Mix 5 may not be in the pipeline, Xiaomi could be developing a different “radical” device to take on the experimental legacy of the Mix series.
Details remain scant, but the prospect of a unique design being introduced later in the year raises questions about the ongoing demand for such devices, especially with Xiaomi’s existing Mix Fold line in the market.
