A leaked review of Konami’s upcoming Silent Hill f suggests the survival horror spinoff takes risks with new mechanics and setting while retaining much of what has defined the series.
The impressions, posted by a DualShockers writer on the Silent Hill subreddit, praised the title’s combat changes and narrative elements. The reviewer said she completed the game’s story using an early copy and plans to score it highly. “Most promisingly, she plans to award the game a 9.5/10 score, calling it ‘genuinely spectacular,’” the post noted.

Set in a Japanese environment distinct from previous entries, Silent Hill f introduces enhanced combat that some players have compared to souls-like games. While such comparisons have drawn criticism from series veterans, the reviewer said the battles, though demanding, did not undermine the franchise’s suspense-driven atmosphere.
The game carries a Mature 17+ ESRB rating due to its graphic content. According to the review, the title’s gore has been amplified but balanced by strong narrative design, with documents and journal notes playing a key role. Replayability is also expected to benefit from a New Game Plus option available after completion.
With its official release date set for Sept. 25, Silent Hill f has yet to receive reviews under formal embargo. The leaked impressions suggest the changes “only benefit gameplay,” though broader reception from players and critics may vary once the game launches on PC and consoles.
