Google’s Play Store editors have released their list of the top Android games of 2025, highlighting titles they say stood out for developer performance, innovation and user experience. The selection spans multiple categories and includes games available on both mobile devices and Windows PCs.
Pokemon TCG Pocket was named the Play Store’s best game of the year. The editors said the title “offers an authentic digital experience of the traditional trading card game and mixes the fun of collecting cards with the satisfying feeling of opening booster packs,” according to the original article. The game has also been listed as a finalist for Apple’s App Store awards.

Disney Speedstorm was chosen as the best game across devices. The arcade racer was recognized for strong performance and consistent controls across platforms, with cross-play and cross-progression features contributing to what editors described as a seamless multi-device experience.
Other category winners included Dunk City Dynasty, which took best multiplayer title for its suitability for both cooperative and solo play. Candy Crush Solitaire was named best pick-up-and-play game for its accessibility during short or extended sessions.

The editors selected Chants of Sennaar as the best indie game of 2025, citing its creativity and artistic design. Disco Elysium won best story for its narrative depth, while Wuthering Waves was named best ongoing series for continued development and regular content updates.
The top title in the Google Play Pass subscription program was Dredge, a mystery-themed fishing game. For Google Play Games on PC, Odin: Valhalla Rising was chosen as the best game of 2025, noted for its open-world design and full keyboard-and-mouse support.
