Phantom Blade Zero, a stylistic action-RPG developed by Chinese studio S-Game, will be featured at The Game Awards 2025 with a release date announcement confirmed by the event’s official social media account. The title is planned for PlayStation 5 and PC and has been promoted as an experience centered on fast, fluid martial-arts combat.
The studio has focused on differentiating the game from the traditional souls-like genre. According to the developer, the goal is to make all combatants feel like skilled martial artists and to reduce the intimidation factor often associated with games such as Elden Ring. S-Game has stated that the project “aims to turn all combatants into skilled martial artists,” emphasizing cinematic action over punishing difficulty.
A short promotional video released alongside the announcement showed an artist sculpting a dragon before the creature rises to reveal a man beneath it. Although it did not depict gameplay scenes, hands-on previews have described combat as fast and fluid, with a cinematic presentation. Testers have noted that the game remains challenging despite the studio’s efforts to make it more accessible. Each character death reduces the protagonist’s remaining lifespan, with only 66 days before the assassin reaches his final end.
Phantom Blade Zero is among a growing number of large-scale Chinese game projects following the global success of Black Myth: Wukong. The momentum has encouraged major developers in China to invest in high-budget releases targeting international audiences, with PlayStation working to support additional PS5 projects from studios in the region. While some titles have struggled to find strong commercial footing, S-Game has indicated that it intends to avoid performance issues that could compromise the speed of combat.

S-Game has confirmed that the release date announcement will include PC support. The company previously attracted attention after one of its developers appeared to minimize the importance of an Xbox version, later denying that the title was a PlayStation exclusive. The studio has not ruled out releasing the game on additional platforms at a later date. The Game Awards, hosted by Geoff Keighley, will be held on December 11, with online speculation also pointing to a possible appearance from a Star Wars project amid broader expectations for high-profile reveals.
