Minix has introduced the NR660 LP, a new low-profile version of its NR660 mini PC, marking a slight shift in design priorities compared with the existing model. The device has appeared on the company’s official store with a listed price of $515, although it is not yet available for purchase and pricing could still change.

The NR660 LP replaces upgradeable memory with soldered LPDDR5 RAM, removing the option for future expansion. The system ships with 16GB of memory, which Minix positions as adequate for everyday workloads, but the company acknowledges the trade-off, noting that “this makes the RAM non-upgradable.” Storage flexibility remains, with support for up to 8TB through two M.2 slots, though the default configuration includes a 512GB PCIe 3.0 solid-state drive.

Another change is the removal of USB4 support, which was present on the non-LP version. The revised port selection includes multiple USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a single USB-C port, dual Gigabit Ethernet, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. While still suitable for general use, the absence of USB4 limits compatibility with high-bandwidth accessories such as external graphics solutions.

Under the hood, the mini PC continues to use AMD’s Ryzen 5 6600H processor with Radeon 660M integrated graphics. Although the Zen 3+ chip is no longer new, it is designed to handle productivity tasks and light gaming. Connectivity features include WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0 and support for up to three external displays.

The NR660 LP also adopts a compact design aimed at space-constrained setups. However, with a higher listed price than the standard NR660 model—which offers upgradeable memory and similar core specifications—the new variant may face questions over its value once sales officially begin.
