Peripheral maker 8BitDo has unveiled a refreshed lineup of its Nintendo 64-inspired wireless controller, introducing five new translucent versions under what it calls the “Prototype Limited Editions.”

The release marks the latest expansion of the 8BitDo 64 controller range, which already includes Black, White and Classic Grey options, as well as previously launched Funtastic Limited Editions. With the addition of the new variants, the company has now offered more than a dozen versions of the retro-styled controller.

The new finishes — Atomic Purple, Extreme Green, Ocean, Ghost and Glacier — feature transparent shells inspired by early Nintendo 64 prototype colors. According to the company, the Prototype Limited Editions will be available in “highly limited quantities,” though similar claims accompanied earlier limited releases that remain in stock.

8BitDo has priced the new controllers at $44.99, representing a $5 increase over the original Black and White versions and matching the price of the Classic Grey and Funtastic editions. The controllers include Bluetooth connectivity and are positioned as compatible with modern gaming setups.

The company said shipments of the Prototype Limited Editions will begin in April 2026. At launch, the new versions will be sold exclusively through 8BitDo’s online store.
