Xiaomi has introduced the Bluetooth Speaker Essential, a new portable speaker listed on its global website that features Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, IP66 certification and support for synchronized playback across multiple units.
The listing suggests the company may be preparing for an international launch in the coming months. The device follows the Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2, which debuted in China last September, but includes several specification changes rather than serving as a direct rebrand.

Among the differences, the Bluetooth Speaker Essential adopts the newer Bluetooth 6.0 standard, while the Redmi model supports Bluetooth 5.3. The Essential carries an IP66 rating, offering protection against dust and strong water jets, though it lacks the IP67 certification of the Redmi version and therefore cannot be submerged in water. As the product description notes, it cannot be immersed in up to one metre of water like the Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2.
The speaker delivers 5 watts of rated output through a 1.5-inch driver and a passive radiator. It is powered by a 1,000 mAh battery rated for up to 10 hours of playback at 40% volume, with official estimates dropping to 2.5 hours at full volume. The device also supports USB Type-C wired playback, synchronized audio across up to 10 speakers, and true wireless stereo pairing between two units. Pricing and availability have yet to be disclosed.
