Garmin has begun rolling out Beta Version 21.24 to users of its high-end smartwatches, including the Fenix 8 and Fenix 8 Pro, as part of its ongoing Beta Program ahead of a forthcoming stable software update.
The release follows Beta Version 21.22, issued earlier this week, and comes nearly a month after System Software 20.29, the most recent stable update delivered in mid-January. Aviation, Dive and ECG features remain disabled in the beta branch, suggesting that at least one additional test build may arrive before Garmin transitions to a stable v21.xx release.

According to the company’s changelog, Beta Version 21.24 addresses a single issue affecting older firmware. The notes state: “Fixed possible crash when pairing to Messenger after clearing settings.” The fix targets a problem that could cause the device to crash during Messenger setup following a reset.
While the latest beta focuses on that specific crash, the cumulative list of changes between stable Version 20.29 and the current 21.24 build exceeds 100 items. These include new features such as an Accessibility menu, Battery Manager, Garmin Fitness Coach, Sports Scores, and the ability to show seconds in Always-On Display mode, alongside expanded voice settings and additional activity tracking options.

Garmin is distributing the update over the air to Beta Program participants. A timeline for the broader public rollout of a stable v21.xx build has not been announced.
