Garmin has released a fresh beta software update for its premium smartwatch portfolio, extending development of its v21.xx cycle despite earlier indications that the phase was nearing completion. The new Beta Version 21.28 is being distributed globally but is limited to users of the Fenix 8 Pro enrolled in the company’s Beta Program. The rollout follows closely behind System Software 21.25 for the Fenix E, Fenix 8 and Fenix 8 Pro, as well as Version 21.27 for the Tactix 8.
Unlike previous updates that covered multiple models simultaneously, Beta Version 21.28 is restricted to the Fenix 8 Pro, including micro LED variants. According to Garmin’s update notes, the beta build has already reached all participants registered in the testing program, signaling that broader public availability could follow soon if no additional issues are identified.

The company said the latest beta update addresses a specific problem involving the LTE searching and standby banner, which had been appearing more frequently than intended. The fix represents a targeted adjustment rather than a wide-ranging feature expansion, suggesting Garmin is focusing on refinements as it prepares to conclude the v21.xx beta cycle.
Separately, observers at Garmin Rumors reported that Garmin has quietly reinstated the manual Sleep Focus option across the Fenix 8 series and related models. The feature allows users to assign Sleep Focus as a shortcut for manual activation, offering greater control over notification and display settings during rest periods.

The manual Sleep Focus functionality appears to be active on System Software 21.25 and 21.27, in addition to Beta Version 21.28. With the LTE-related issue addressed and previously removed features restored, Garmin is expected to transition the beta build into its stable software channel in the near term, pending final validation.
