Nintendo will launch two classic Pokemon titles for the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch II later this month, marking the 30th anniversary of the original games’ debut.
Digital versions of Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen are available for pre-order via the Nintendo eShop and will be released on Feb. 27. Each title is priced at $19.99.

Unlike many Game Boy Advance releases currently offered through the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service, the two Pokemon titles will be sold separately and will not require a subscription. Nintendo has not indicated that the games will support connectivity with Pokemon Home, despite earlier speculation about potential character transfers to newer entries in the series.
The company has scheduled a “Pokemon Presents” broadcast on the same day as the release, where further details about the updated versions may be provided. Buyers should note that each purchased copy supports only one language version.
FireRed and LeafGreen are remakes of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, originally launched in 1996. Developed for the Game Boy Advance, the remade editions introduced improved graphics and gameplay adjustments aligned with the franchise’s third generation, taking advantage of the handheld’s enhanced performance and color display.
