Garmin has announced its latest software release, the August 2025 Feature Update, which introduces 18 new functions across several of its smartwatches and the Edge 1050 cycling computer.

The update marks the company’s second major rollout of the year, following a May release that added a new Rucking activity mode and improvements to sleep tracking.

The package applies to nine devices, including the Fenix E, Fenix 8, Enduro 3, Quatix 8, Tactix 8, Venu X1, Forerunner 570, Forerunner 970, and the Edge 1050. Garmin highlighted six primary changes in the release notes but confirmed that the full update contains a broader set of 18 feature enhancements.

Among the new additions are Running Tolerance, Triathlon Coach, Daily Suggested Track Workouts, Running Economy, Step Speed Loss and an Evening Report summary, which will be available on the Venu X1, Fenix series, and select related models.

The Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 are receiving a smaller subset of new features, while the Edge 1050 will benefit from cycling-specific improvements. Garmin has not clarified whether the update will extend to earlier models such as the Edge 840 or Edge 1040. According to the company, distribution of the new software will take place “over the coming weeks,” though no firm timeline has been provided.

The August rollout also concludes the beta testing cycle that has run in recent months, signaling Garmin’s shift toward stabilizing its latest software ecosystem. The company has not indicated whether additional updates are planned before the end of the year.
