Garmin has released a new beta software update, version 17.29, for its Fenix 8 smartwatch family, focusing on bug fixes that improve safety and performance for climbers and divers.
The update, available over-the-air for members of Garmin’s beta program, applies to the entire Fenix 8 lineup as well as closely related models such as the Enduro 3 and Fenix E.
Compared with version 17.28, the changelog is short but addresses key issues. “The altimeter now works without issue at high altitudes, which can be important for safety reasons,” Garmin said in its release notes. The patch also resolves problems with InReach device reconnections, ensures smartphone notifications are displayed correctly, and fixes a potential shutdown during diving activity data adjustments.
Although no new features are included, Garmin said the fixes improve reliability for athletes and outdoor users operating in demanding environments.
The Fenix 8 remains Garmin’s top-tier wearable line, with the company continuing to refine its performance through incremental updates such as version 17.29.
