Garmin has released a fresh stable update for several of its premium smartwatches, including the Fenix 8, Enduro 3, Fenix E, Quatix 8 and Tactix 8. The rollout comes shortly after the company issued the first update for the Fenix 8 Pro.
The new firmware, System Software 17.30, is designed to address issues that surfaced following Garmin’s previous major release. In a forum post, the company said the update “should fix four outstanding bugs while also updating translations in unspecified areas.”
System Software 17.28, issued last month, introduced 114 changes over its predecessor, including 65 bug fixes. However, additional flaws were detected after its release, prompting Garmin to return to its Beta Program before finalizing the new stable build.
The latest update also upgrades the Sensor Hub firmware from version 34.10 to 35.08, though Garmin has not detailed the specific improvements. The fixes include restoring inReach remote functionality after reconnection, resolving altitude variation at higher elevations, correcting smart notification issues, and preventing potential shutdowns during dive activity edits.
Garmin said System Software 17.30 is being distributed to about half of eligible devices, with broader availability expected soon. Users who have not yet received the update can manually install it via the settings menu.
