DJI appears poised to launch a successor to its compact Neo drone before the end of the month. Industry sources suggest the new model, named the Neo 2, could be introduced on October 30, with the initial release limited to China.
Speculation about the launch emerged earlier this month, when reports indicated that DJI was preparing three new products — the Neo 2, Osmo Mobile 8, and Mic 3 Pro — for release in November. The latest information, however, points to a slightly earlier debut for the compact drone.
According to tech leaker Igor Bogdanov, DJI is preparing to replace the current Neo, priced at around $199, with the Neo 2 within a week. Bogdanov cited a recent post on DJI’s Weibo account that teased an upcoming event under the tagline “Everything Under Control.” The accompanying video shows a triple-propeller design surrounded by a segmented guard, suggesting a refined and possibly safer build for the new model.
While DJI has not confirmed the details, the teaser video and timing indicate that the October 30 event will likely focus on the Neo 2. The company’s Chinese social media channels have already hinted at the launch, although it remains unclear whether a global rollout will occur simultaneously.
DJI has also announced the Osmo Mobile 8 separately, reinforcing expectations that its upcoming devices will be unveiled in stages rather than together. The Neo 2 is expected to succeed the original Neo in DJI’s entry-level lineup, offering incremental improvements in design and control for hobbyist users.
