Amazon has introduced augmented reality (AR) glasses aimed at improving productivity and safety for its delivery staff. The device projects key information into the user’s field of vision, minimizing reliance on handheld devices and enhancing situational awareness during deliveries.
The AR glasses are primarily targeted at professional users within Amazon’s logistics network. Demonstration material shows the technology being used to identify and verify packages and provide turn-by-turn navigation via a built-in map display. These features are designed to streamline workflows and reduce errors during package handling.
The device connects to a custom delivery vest that houses integrated controls and uses a replaceable battery capable of lasting a full workday. It also includes safety measures such as an emergency button and offers compatibility with corrective lenses, ensuring comfort for users with vision needs.
While the AR glasses are currently positioned for internal use, the project suggests Amazon may be exploring future applications of the technology for broader commercial or consumer markets.
