iGP Ryzen 6000 series Vs NVIDIA MX450 – Who will win?

AMD recently introduced their latest generation of Ryzen processors, the Ryzen 6000 series Rembrandt APU. This processor promises much better performance than its predecessor.

One of the parts that get the most attention is on the GPU. Because, the GPU in this processor uses a Radeon 600M powered by RDNA 2 which is predicted to have excellent capabilities.

This GPU itself offers up to 12 Compute Units with 768 cores that are present at speeds up to 2.4GHz. When compared to previous generation iGPUs, they offer a 50 percent compute engine and twice the L2 cache bandwidth, and twice as much backend rendering (RB+).

Reporting from Wccftech (21/2), the Radeon RX 600M is split into two SKUs, the Radeon 680M featured on the Ryzen 9 and Ryzen 7 chips while the Radeon 660M on the Ryzen 5. Both have different configurations.

AMD itself claims, with the presence of this GPU, they can run heavy games comfortably at 1080p resolution with frame rates between 40fps to 60fps, which is quite high.

The performance of this iGP is faster than the GeForce MX450, and can even outperform the GeForce GTX 1650M Max-Q when the user activates FSR. Of course, this is quite a surprising development.

In a test that has been carried out on several platforms by Computerbase, there is a performance increase of almost 50 percent when comparing the Radeon 680M on the Ryzen 9 6900HS with the Vega 8 on the Ryzen 7 5700G in the Cyberpunk 2077 game.

They tried to play this game at a low 1080p resolution and the result was that the Radeon 680M has a more playable frame rate without FSR support. And when compared to the GTX 1060, the iGP is only 19 percent slower, which is quite impressive.

The presence of a very strong iGP is expected to be able to change the gaming industry, especially in the field of gaming laptops. This allows laptop manufacturers to build gaming laptops without the presence of a discrete GPU, which reduces power requirements.
