Latest Firmware update for AirPods officially distributed

Do you use products? The latest firmware updates for various types of AirPods have been released by last weekend.

Using version code 5B58, the AirPods products that get this type of firmware are AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro 1 and AirPods Max.

For AirPods Pro 2, the 5B58 firmware update was received a few days earlier.

From the notes on Apple Support, almost all AirPods now use the same latest firmware code, namely 5B58, except for the first generation AirPods.

Latest firmware versions

  • AirPods Pro (2nd generation): 5B58
  • AirPods Pro (1st generation): 5B58
  • AirPods (2nd and 3rd generation): 5B58
  • AirPods Max: 5B58
  • AirPods (1st generation): 6.8.8

Apple never explained what features were added to the firmware update for AirPods devices.

Notes that are often given for firmware updates on AirPods products are bug fixes and device quality improvements.

Here’s see the firmware code for the AirPods you’re using:

  1. Connect AirPods to the device.
  2. Enter the Bluetooth section.
  3. Next to the list of AirPods currently in use, press the i button.
  4. Scroll down and in the About section there is a note about Firmware.

How do I update the firmware on AirPods? You just need to connect your AirPods to an internet-connected iOS device. AirPods will automatically download the latest firmware documents and update. However, there are no indicators regarding the process of downloading and updating firmware on AirPods devices using this method.

Another way that the MakeMac team usually does is to use a Mac computer to update the AiPods or Beats firmware.

The trick is to connect AirPods or Beats to a Mac computer with a data cable like when charging. Make sure the Mac computer is connected to the internet and leave the AirPods connected via cable to the Mac for about 15–30 minutes. After that, please use it and check whether the latest Firmware has been installed.
