Amazon will launch a revamped version of its Luna cloud gaming service later this year, adding a new feature called GameNight aimed at encouraging group play among family and friends.
GameNight will include a curated catalog of party-style games that can be played locally without the need for traditional game controllers. Instead, players will be able to scan a QR code and use their smartphones as input devices. Exclusive titles are planned, alongside adapted versions of well-known multiplayer games such as Angry Birds, Exploding Kittens, Cluedo and Ticket to Ride.
The lineup will debut with an Amazon-developed title, Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg, which uses AI to create interactive storytelling experiences. Additional social games are expected to be added regularly.
In addition to GameNight, Luna’s catalog will expand to include premium releases such as Hogwarts Legacy, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and TopSpin 2K25. These titles will require a compatible controller, such as Amazon’s Luna Wireless Controller, which is currently being offered at a reduced price, or other Bluetooth-enabled devices.
Luna, which first launched in 2022, allows users to stream games from cloud servers to devices including TVs, tablets and smartphones. The updated version of the service is set to roll out before the end of the year, though Amazon has not provided an exact date.
