The mobile version of the World of Warcraft game has reportedly been canceled for iOS and Android platforms. This information is known from the latest Bloomberg report a few days ago.
It was stated in the report, that the game, the result of Blizzard‘s collaboration with NetEase, was canceled due to a conflict related to financing terms. In fact, the development of this game is known to have been going on for three years.
Not only that, according to reports, there were around 100 NetEase developers who participated in this game development project before it was finally canceled.
However, as quoted from The Verge, Monday (8/8/2022), a spokesperson for Blizzard said it still has a good relationship with NetEase. They also denied that there had been a dispute over financial matters.
The plan, this game is designed as a spin-off from World of Warcraft which is known to have many fans. However, until reports of this cancellation, it is not yet known what kind of story and gameplay is offered in the game.
This decision also raises a number of questions, considering that Blizzard is known to be pushing its presence on the mobile platform. In this year alone, there are two games that have been introduced to this development, namely Warcraft Arclight Rumble and Diablo Immortal.
Meanwhile, the collaboration between Blizzard and NetEase has existed since 2008. The two companies are known to collaborate on the development of Diablo Immortal.
In addition, NetEase also publishes a number of Blizzard games, such as Hearthstone and World of Warcraft in China. NetEase is also known to own the world champion of the Blizzard Overwatch League, namely the Shanghai Dragons.
