Onyx-owned Boox has launched its latest color E Ink e-reader, the Palma 2 Pro, to global markets. The new model, which features 5G dual-SIM connectivity and stylus support, follows its earlier release in China and is positioned against devices such as the HiBreak Pro Color and the reMarkable Paper Pro Move.
The Palma 2 Pro is the international version of the Boox P6 Pro Color and features a 6.13-inch Kaleido 3 ePaper screen capable of displaying up to 4,096 colors. The panel offers a color resolution of 412 × 824 (150ppi) and a black-and-white resolution of 824 × 1,648 (300ppi). It is protected by glass and includes a front light with adjustable temperature. Boox said the new color screen “allows users to enjoy books, magazines, and comics in color,” and with the optional InkSense Plus Stylus, users can annotate documents and take notes in multiple colors.
Connectivity is one of the key upgrades in the Palma 2 Pro. It introduces 5G support, a first for the Palma series, with a hybrid SIM slot that accommodates either two SIM cards or one SIM and a microSD card. Boox clarified that the SIM functionality is data-only, meaning the device cannot be used for phone calls or messaging.
Powered by an octa-core processor, the Palma 2 Pro includes 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 2 TB. It features a 16 MP rear camera, fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button, and water-repellent construction. The 3,950 mAh battery charges via USB-C, supporting USB OTG and USB audio. The device runs on Android 15 and includes access to Google Play Store.
Pre-orders for the Boox Palma 2 Pro are now open at $399.99 (€399.99) in black and white variants, with a release date set for November 7. The model ships with a magnetic protective case, while the InkSense Plus Stylus is sold separately for $45.99. Boox’s latest offering positions itself slightly below the $449 reMarkable Paper Pro Move, offering a competitive entry into the color e-reader segment.
