Today TikTok is the most popular video sharing platform on social media. TikTok has also extended the video duration to 10 minutes from the previous 3 minutes. This will make content creators on TikTok more free to make videos because the duration is extended.
TikTok is currently testing a feature that allows users to upload 10-minute videos because TikTok wants to insert ads into videos. Bytedance thinks the longer the video presence, the more room there will be for ads.

Research firm Insider Intelligence predicts TikTok will become the third-largest social media platform in the world. In fact, active users of TikTok will beat Twitter and trail Facebook and Instagram.

Insider Intelligence predicts TikTok will have 755 million active users by 2022. By comparison, TikTok’s user growth will reach 59.8 percent in 2020 and 40.8 percent in 2021.
Meanwhile, Facebook has 2.1 billion monthly active users in 2022 and is the most popular social media in the world today. The number of active Facebook users grew by 6 percent year-on-year (YoY).
Just below Facebook, Instagram is predicted to have a total of 1.28 billion active users in the next year. Meanwhile, the bottom two positions are filled by Snapchat and Twitter with a predicted active number of 464 million and 345.3 million respectively in 2022.

In July 2021, Sensor Tower named TikTok and Douyin, the names of similar apps in China, as the first non-Facebook apps to reach 3 billion downloads globally on the Google Play Store and App Store. Insider Intelligence estimates that the share of TikTok users will also increase by more than 20 percent in the first quarter of 2024.
