Garmin has begun distributing a new beta software update for several of its high-end smartwatches, aiming to resolve a GPS malfunction that has affected recent test builds, according to information released by the company.
The over-the-air update, identified as Beta Version 21.22, is available for the Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8 and Tactix 8 models. It follows a series of v21.xx beta releases that began in late December, marking more than six weeks of public testing without a move to Garmin’s stable software channel.

Garmin said the latest beta focuses on a single fix, addressing a problem that left some Fenix 8 Pro devices “unable to acquire GPS in CIQ apps,” an issue reported by users running earlier beta versions. The company indicated that roughly half of eligible devices have already received update notifications.
Despite the narrow scope of changes, Garmin has not yet signaled that the v21.xx branch is ready for general release. Recent beta builds have temporarily disabled features such as Aviation, Dive and ECG functions, suggesting further testing remains underway.

Garmin’s beta program updates are typically rolled out in stages, and the company is expected to complete the automatic distribution of Version 21.22 within the next few days, as it continues to refine the software before a full public release.
