Garmin has issued another beta software update for its Instinct 3 and Instinct Crossover AMOLED smartwatches, only weeks after both devices received a major stable firmware rollout. The company quietly resumed beta development without prior announcement, citing the need to resolve issues that persisted after the previous release.
The new update, Beta Version 12.23, marks a return to the v12.xx development branch rather than the start of a fresh update cycle. Garmin said the release seeks to correct problems introduced in System Software 12.21. According to the original report, the beta “fixes outstanding GCM and CIQ bugs,” though the company did not expand further on the changes.

Garmin stated that the patch should eliminate a problem preventing Instinct E, Instinct 3 and Instinct Crossover AMOLED users from adding applications via Garmin Connect Mobile. The update also addresses an issue reported on Garmin’s forums where courses and workouts were failing to download in CIQ apps, a feature available exclusively on Instinct E and Solar variants.
The company has not confirmed when a broader stable firmware update will follow or whether additional bug fixes are planned. Users enrolled in Garmin’s Beta Program can download Beta Version 12.23 immediately through device settings, while others will need to wait for a future public release.
