Home Assistant has begun rolling out version 2026.1 of its open-source smart home automation software, introducing updates aimed at improving mobile usability and expanding automation options.
The release follows the 2025.12 update from last month, which introduced the Home Assistant Labs area and a new Philips Hue Bluetooth Low Energy integration. In its latest update, Home Assistant has placed a stronger emphasis on refining the Home dashboard, particularly for mobile users.

According to the project, the mobile Home dashboard now offers “a new, streamlined mobile experience,” removing the need for tab-based navigation. Summary cards are displayed at the top of the screen, followed by sections for favourites and defined areas. A new Devices page has also been added, allowing users to view products that have not yet been assigned to a specific area within their setup.
Home Assistant has also continued work on purpose-specific triggers and conditions, expanding the range available to users. New triggers include options tailored to buttons, climate devices, humidifiers and lighting, with testing ongoing through the Home Assistant Labs section. In addition, the Settings page has been reorganised, giving greater prominence to protocol dashboards.
The 2026.1 release introduces new integrations, including support for HomeLink devices such as wireless garage door openers, Airpatrol WiFi products and eGauge energy monitors. Existing integrations have also been updated, with improvements to FRITZ!Box Smart Home adding new switch entities that allow users to control routines directly. Home Assistant said a full list of changes is available on its blog.
