Mercedes-Benz is preparing to roll out an all-electric version of its C-Class sedan in 2026, as the German carmaker expands its EV portfolio to compete with rivals such as BMW.
The model, which was first previewed at the Munich Motor Show, will offer a driving range of up to 497 miles (800 km) on a single charge. It is equipped with a 94.5 kWh NMC battery and an 800V system that supports ultra-fast charging at up to 400 kW.
“The luxury sedan features ultra-fast 400 kW charging, a modern, tech-focused interior, and is set to go head-to-head with BMW’s i3 electric sedan,” the company said when introducing the car.
Built on Mercedes’ proprietary MB.EA platform, the C-Class EV — known as the C-Class EQ — will also include the brand’s signature “Iconic Grille,” first introduced on the GLC EQ. The vehicle has a longer wheelbase and wider tracks compared to its combustion-engine counterpart, adding cabin space and improving handling. The company highlighted improvements to rear passenger comfort and expanded boot capacity.
Two configurations will be available: a single-motor rear-wheel-drive version producing up to 335 bhp and a dual-motor 4Matic all-wheel-drive version with up to 482 bhp. An AMG performance model, expected in 2027, will use axial flux motors developed by UK-based Yasa and is projected to deliver more than 680 bhp.
