Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new version of its flagship S-Class sedan designed for the artificial intelligence era, integrating NVIDIA’s autonomous driving platform to support a level 4-ready architecture focused on safety and trust.

The automaker said the S-Class will run on its MB.OS operating system and be equipped with the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion architecture alongside full-stack NVIDIA DRIVE AV level 4 software. The setup is intended to support future robotaxi and chauffeur-style autonomous services, including potential deployment through Uber under NVIDIA’s previously announced partnership with the ride-hailing company.

The system combines end-to-end AI driving software with parallel classical safety stacks under NVIDIA’s Halos safety framework, allowing the vehicle to handle rare and complex driving scenarios while maintaining predictable operation. NVIDIA said its DRIVE AV software is trained at scale on DGX systems and validated using high-fidelity simulation tools to ensure production readiness.

“Five years ago, NVIDIA began working with Mercedes-Benz to help carry that legacy into the AI era,” NVIDIA founder and Chief Executive Jensen Huang said in a video accompanying the launch, highlighting the collaboration between the two companies.

Mercedes-Benz said the new S-Class reflects a broader shift in automotive safety toward accident prevention through intelligent systems, extending its traditional focus on crash protection into autonomous operation. Built on sensor diversity, hardware redundancy and software stack diversity, the company said the platform is designed to eliminate single points of failure and enable large-scale deployment of premium autonomous mobility services.
