Microsoft has confirmed that Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of the 2001 classic Halo: Combat Evolved, will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC next year. The release marks the first time a mainline Halo title will be available on a non-Xbox console, signaling a major step in the company’s cross-platform strategy.

The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer showcasing upgraded visuals and gameplay improvements. “Halo: Campaign Evolved is a full remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5,” Microsoft said in an official statement. The title replaces the original Slipspace engine used in previous entries with Epic Games’ latest technology.

Halo: Campaign Evolved arrives in 2026.

Experience enhanced gameplay, additional missions, and new features on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

The remake will feature completely remastered graphics with 4K textures, enhanced lighting, and several additions to the single-player campaign. Players can expect new prequel missions and nine new weapons, offering expanded lore and gameplay depth compared to the 2001 release.

Beyond the campaign, Halo: Campaign Evolved includes a fully functional multiplayer component with cross-platform support. It will feature two-player local co-op and up to four-player online campaign play, though Microsoft has not confirmed whether a competitive PvP mode will be included.

The decision to bring Halo to PlayStation represents a broader move by Microsoft to reach a wider gaming audience beyond the Xbox ecosystem. By modernizing its flagship franchise and opening it to new platforms, the company aims to strengthen Halo’s relevance in an increasingly interconnected gaming market.
