Netflix brings spatial audio features to all devices to enhance the audio experience throughout its entire catalog of original titles, including Stranger Things, The Adam Project, Red Notice, The Witcher, and Locke & Key.
To note, spatial audio is designed to provide a sound experience like watching a movie in a cinema. Users can type “Spatial Audio” into the Netflix search bar, to find titles that support the feature. Spatial audio can be enjoyed by all Netflix users, regardless of the subscription plan they have.
Reported by TechCrunch (8/7), Netflix licensed Sennheiser’s AMBEO technology to deliver spatial audio over any 2-channel stereo hardware, providing three-dimensional positional audio without the need for additional surround sound speakers or home theater equipment.
AMBEO works to provide “a better stereo audio experience, whether it’s a standard TV, stereo system, headphones, tablet or laptop,” Sennheiser said in a statement.
For users watching on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, Netflix says that streaming quality needs to be set to “High” or “Auto” to watch spatial audio compatible content.
Also, please note that AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, and Beats Fit Pro users will not change because spatial audio support is already available.
