Samsung may be preparing to integrate its Galaxy Ring with the upcoming Galaxy XR headset, according to a newly discovered software reference. Android Authority reported finding a line of code labelled “ring gesture for glasses” in the latest Galaxy Ring Manager app, indicating potential support for hands-free navigation through simple gestures.
The reference suggests Samsung is exploring ways for the Ring to interact with both the Galaxy XR headset and future Galaxy Glasses. In its current form, the Galaxy Ring already performs basic tasks such as triggering the camera shutter or dismissing alarms. Extending those interactions to XR hardware could allow users to perform actions such as menu navigation or selection with gestures like a double pinch. One code snippet reportedly stated that the feature could support “gesture for glasses,” which hints at broader device compatibility.

The move could also help Samsung address hardware limitations, particularly for its smart glasses, which are not expected to include built-in hand-tracking cameras. Gesture-based control from a wearable ring would provide an alternative input method without relying on optical tracking.
Samsung previously filed patents describing how the Galaxy Ring could be used to control phones, tablets and other connected devices. Analysts say the newly spotted code aligns with the company’s broader strategy to create more integrated links between wearables and extended-reality products. Samsung has not commented on whether the feature will be included in future updates or hardware releases.
