Foldable phones are all the hype right now. One of the mobile phone manufacturers, Samsung has many models of folding phones, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G.
Now, the brand has filed a patent for a laptop that can be folded into a more portable size.
According to a report from LetsGoDigital, reported by Pocket Lint, Tuesday (18/1/2022), Samsung’s patent covers a laptop that can traditionally be folded and then folded once again when closed. The design features a hinged keyboard area with clips to hold the layers of your laptop together when folded.
The motherboard, battery, and components that are placed under the keyboard will be divided into two parts so that the device can be folded vertically. Apparently, Samsung is planning on using its foldable OLED technology for the display, which of course is also hinged to allow it to fold back on its own.
When folded, the laptop base forms the outer side of the device, with the screen tucked in the middle. Just because Samsung has filed a patent doesn’t mean the concept will be released. However, if the foldable phone trend continues, it’s not impossible that consumers will see bigger foldable devices.
If Samsung released such a device, there would be many challenges to overcome. There’s a screen fold that’s always there to deal with, as well as making the hinged keyboard feel sturdy enough to type on.
