TCL has released its QM9K QD-Mini LED QLED 4K UHD Smart TV in the United States, with prices starting at $2,999.99 for the 65-inch version. The model, which became available in September, builds on the company’s earlier QM8K by offering higher brightness levels and more local dimming zones.
According to TCL, the QM9K features up to 6,000 local dimming zones, compared with 3,800 in the QM8K, and a maximum HDR brightness of 6,500 nits. “The device has more local dimming zones and a higher brightness level,” the company said in its announcement.
The television supports Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, HLG and IMAX Enhanced. It offers a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, Motion Rate 480 with MEMC frame insertion, as well as up to 288Hz variable refresh rate (VRR), auto low latency mode (ALLM) and FreeSync Premium Pro.
Other features include integrated Bang & Olufsen speakers with Dolby Atmos support, along with a presence sensor that turns on the screen when someone enters the room.
The QM9K runs on Google TV, enabling access to a range of streaming platforms, and supports wireless sharing through Google Chromecast and Apple AirPlay 2. A future update will add Google Gemini, a first for TCL, which is expected to deliver personalized recommendations and natural voice interactions. The company has not specified a release date for the update.
The QM9K shares similarities with TCL’s C9K model, which was launched in Europe earlier this year.
