Google will discontinue the Google Currents service available in G Suite enterprise services in 2023. Google Currents itself is designed to communicate between members of a community or company.
Instead, Google Currents users will switch to using the Google Spaces service which is present in 2021. Space itself is a mobile application that will support group discussions with content sharing features without having to leave the application.
“Since launching Spaces, many customers have commented that they enjoy product integration across Google Workspace, including Gmail, Calendar, Drive and Meet, as well as a seamless collaboration experience,” Google said in a post on the company blog.

Before Currents closes, Google will add some new features to Spaces. However, the details have not been disclosed by the company. What is clear, the new feature will support a larger community, available tools for content moderation, and more.
“We’ll be bringing new capabilities to Spaces to help you communicate and collaborate more effectively. This includes support for larger communities and leadership communications, investments in advanced search, tools for content moderation and more,” wrote Google.
