DM Twitter can now be pinned, priority chats appear at the top

Twitter brings an update that makes it easier for users to interact in direct messages (DM) with the people they want.

This update lets users pin up to six DMs or conversations, so they stay on top. This pin feature is reminiscent of the same feature that WhatsApp has.

By pinning a conversation (DM) from the selected account, that conversation will always be in the top position, even if there are DMs from new accounts that come in. The DM pin feature is already available for users of the , iOS and web versions.

This feature can be a custom marker for prioritized conversations. Users will not be distracted or do not need to scroll (scroll) the screen many times to send new messages to prioritized users. Twitter itself allows users to add pins to up to six chats or users in DMs. Later the six chats will be at the top of the list of all chats.

To add a pin, users only need to swipe right on a chat, to find the pin feature. Click the pin icon, so the related chat will shift to the chat at the top of the list.

To make it easier for users, Twitter actually already provides a search feature in DMs. This feature will help users find the chat or interlocutor they want to go to without scrolling.

However, the pin feature will be more practical because it does not require the user to do a search first.

DM Twitter rarely used

According to Twitter research, the or DM feature is quite rarely used. However, DM is a liaison between customers and business accounts on Twitter.

The majority of these features are used by business users to interact with customers, which usually includes personal data such as identity or order details.

Instead of sending messages, Twitter research shows 73 percent of users are more likely to tweet by linking related business/brand accounts.

Compiled from Today, Friday (18/2/2022), only 52 percent of users prefer to DM a business account, when it comes to sending somewhat personal data.

Although Twitter DMs are rarely used, the presence of the pin feature will help business accounts to flag some priority customers who are experiencing problems and need an immediate response.

This feature also allows admins to manage chats to respond in a timely manner.
